Hey everyone, FYI, here in Utah a law was recently passed that requires drivers to “give way to overtaking traffic”. In other words, you’re loafing along in the passing lane(s), but you’re not doing any passing. Cars start piling up behind you, annoyed as all getout, and no one can get around you because you’re pacing the cars next to you. THIS IS NOW ILLEGAL! Thank heaven!!! I think that we’re in a pretty sorry state now that we have to legislate common-sense and courtesy. It is amazing that almost everyone is guilty of this crime! Everyone does this! It’s amazing! I can’t tell you how many slow cars I have seen merge onto the freeway, and then immediately cross 4 lanes of traffic to get into the highest priority passing lane and then loaf along at a fraction of the speed limit. Personally, I think these people should be ineligable for a driver license, as they are the primary cause of traffic jams that cost this state millions of dollars, and frustrate countless drivers into a nearly homicidal rage each day. Stop driving like bone-heads, and get out of the way!
If you’re not passing someone, move over, and let other people pass! Also, if it’s going to take you 30 minutes to pass the car next to you, why not reduce your speed .02 MPH, and just get behind the other guy. Gee, it’s really not going to cost you that much time. Oh, right. I forgot, it’s so much work to disengage/adjust the cruise control. That’s okay. Maybe you’ll end up like the guy in the above picture.
Just move over! It’s not only courtesy, it’s the LAW. (At least here in my state. Too bad it’s not enforced.)
